Emily Erikson is a native of Meridian, Mississippi and has been with WTOK since May of 2020. Star has covered all types of weather events, including avalanches, snowstorms, hurricanes, wildfires, droughts, and other types of national weather phenomena. Her passion for weather began as a young girl when she lost her home in the 6.7 magnitude earthquake that rattled her hometown of Northridge, CA back in 1994. Before working at KIAH Houston, she landed her first job at KREX News 5 News Grand Junction, CO as a meteorologist on the weekday evening news, after getting her start as a multimedia journalist at the station. The Los Angeles native also worked as a newsroom editor/anchor for the CSUN owned 88.5 KCSN and the well-known LA Parent Magazine. Star made her debut on set in Texas during Winter Storm 2021, when she covered record weather for the city of Houston and impacted areas throughout Texas. Most recently, for KIAH in Houston, TX on the “No Wait Weather + Traffic” morning show as a meteorologist and lifestyle show co-host for “Houston Happens.” In addition to working for ABC7 Los Angeles, Star has also worked for multiple media platforms. Leading her to enroll at Mississippi State University (MSU) to obtain a degree in geoscience. Harvey says it was in the two years of working as a news assistant for ABC7 KABC Los Angeles that her love for weather was reignited. Where she studied and obtained her bachelor’s degree in journalism from California State University Of Northridge (CSUN). Star was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Catch Kweilyn Murphy weekdays on ABC11 Eyewitness News in the morning and at noon with co-anchors John Clark and Barbara Gibbs and morning traffic reporter Kim Deaner. Star Harvey is the meteorologist for the PIX11 Weekend Morning News from 8 to 10 a.m. and weekday feature reporter. She joined the station in April of 2022 and is thrilled to be a member of the best news team in NYC.
